The Best I've Ever Felt

I noticed a huge transition in my life over the past several years. I am a lot less exciting than I used to be...hahaha. I guess that’s relative to what you think is exciting.

Ok, that’s not what I’m talking about. The huge transition has been this...

Staying lean, feeling energized, and just overall feeling great has never been easier. Hmm...why would that be?

The biggest and most significant change in my health journey has been this:

My PERCEPTION has completely shifted.

Follow me on this one...

Magazine

When I first began to research healthy eating (in my teen years) I was overweight and my main focus, actually, my ONLY focus was on losing weight and looking skinny. Unfortunately, like so many young girls today, I had fallen prey to the "skinny" look that most magazines and television commercials advertise. I specifically remembered thinking to myself, "I want my legs to be stick-skinny like those girls."

Needless to say, this was unhealthy on so many levels (and continues to be unhealthy for many girls in today’s world).

After years of failed attempts, I finally did find healthy information that helped me lose the excess weight I had been carrying around for so long. The bonus was that the foods that I discovered were the best ones to help me lose weight, were also good for me, and helped me clear up my terrible acne, have more energy throughout the day, and have better focus for reading and work...SCORE! (And, yes, this is the same information I share with you today in Beyond Diet.)

Here’s the thing. Regardless of the fact that the foods I was choosing were healthy and good for me, I was still focused on "skinny legs, must get skinny legs" and still focused on the fact that the girls that I saw in the fashion magazines looked very, very different than I did.

Here is the reality for me (and for many people). I am 5 feet tall. No, I did not forget another number in there. 5 feet nothing, that’s it. I also have big, muscular legs...something you do NOT see in the magazines. I also have larger calves than most women who are my height, which makes finding great boots nearly impossible. (I mean, who are these boots made for? Oh, the girls in those darn magazines.)

Yes, I was healthier than I had ever been, but the mindset I was in was probably not the healthiest for me.

It was not until years later, that that all changed for me. Fast forward almost 10 years and I marry the most wonderful man (my awesome hubbie Stewart) and I find out I’m pregnant with my first son, Christian.

BAM! Almost like I had been struck by lightning everything that went on in my head changed DRAMATICALLY.

I no longer cared about skinny, slim, toned, lean. All I truly cared about was nourishing this gift that God had given me. I know that is not the case for many women. I often hear women say, "Oh man, I hope I don’t get fat," when they find out they’re pregnant. I promise you I’m not judging them, I’m just pointing out the simple reality that even during such a special time like pregnancy, women are thinking about "being fat."

Ok, back to the story...

Pregnant Isabel

Here I was pregnant and wanting to nourish my growing baby in the best way possible – so what was I going to eat? Well, it turns out that the same healthy foods that helped me to lose fat, clear up my acne, and create more energy were the foods that were the best for fueling my pregnancy.

Here was the DIFFERENCE in my perspective...

My brain had changed. My thoughts had changed. I was eating the same food, but in my head I was no longer thinking, “Ok, these foods are going to help me get as lean and skinny as possible.” I was now thinking, "These foods are nourishing me and my baby in the best way possible."

For me, that was the beginning of a huge mental shift that I have been able to maintain over the past 5 years. Long gone are the days that my entire food focus is on “how to stay lean, how to get skinny, or how to fit into skinny jeans.” And with that mental shift, came an even better surprise. I now look and feel, at 35 years old, the best I have ever felt...ever!

But maybe you’re not pregnant. Maybe your brain is still in the skinny place. Maybe the bottom line is...you just want to look good...period!

I assure you that once you start to focus on HEALTH and stop thinking about...

Will this food make me fat? How many calories are in here? How much fat did I eat today? Should I not eat any carbs? Which "diet" should I follow?

(Aaaahhhh! That’s enough to drive anyone crazy!) You will see the amazing results you’re looking for.

Tomorrow I will share with you how, by just focusing on different aspects of health, I am, today, 2 pregnancies later, feeling and looking the best I’ve ever felt (really, I’m not exaggerating).
