Healthy Late-Night Snacks

Not too long ago, I asked this question on the Beyond Diet Facebook page:

Late Night Snacking

Doing a little late-night snacking? What's your favorite thing to nibble on after dinner?

I received SO MANY answers, and I wanted to share some of the most common with you. These can serve as inspiration if you ever feel hungry after dinner.

  • Apple and almond butter (Hands down, the most popular response...this is an excellent snack that should keep you satisfied throughout the night.)
  • Granny Smith apple with melted dark chocolate and natural peanut butter drizzled over top (These Apple Nachos sound pretty similar.)
  • Warm almond milk spiced with cinnamon and cardamom
  • Veggies with hummus (Carrots, cucumbers, and green peppers are great!)
  • Frozen grapes
  • Ice cream (Try this: Banana Almond Butter Ice Cream.)
  • Cup of hot tea (This is an excellent late-night treat...perfect for relaxing.)
  • Popcorn (This was an incredibly popular response, so I wanted to make a note about this snack. Most corn that you can find in a grocery store is going to be genetically modified. If you can find non-GMO corn kernels, this would be a pretty great snack though. Pop the corn in coconut oil in a large pot. Season with sea salt and any other spices you desire.)

All of these snacks are healthy and would be a MUCH better choice than sugary ice cream or super salty potato chips. This list may not include YOUR favorite late-night snack, though, so tell us about what you snack on in the comments below.
