A Pregnancy Success Story

Andy & Jace

Hi everyone! My name is Andy, and I'm the graphic designer here at Beyond Diet. Normally I just hang out behind the scenes, but I wanted to share my own Beyond Diet success story.

I had worked at Beyond Diet for about a year when I got pregnant with my first child, so I was very familiar with the program and its teachings...and I more or less tried to follow it.

But when I got pregnant it became even more important to me. Not only did I want to keep my weight gain within healthy limits, I also wanted to make sure that I was eating the right things to help my baby grow healthy and strong. I knew the Beyond Diet way of eating was going to help me accomplish both of those goals.

I'm not going to even pretend that I managed to follow the program perfectly (I was pregnant, after all), but I did try my best. The beautiful thing was that as long as I was eating BD approved foods, I didn't feel I had to worry about how MUCH I was eating. And some days it felt like I was eating ALL the food.

I ended up gaining a total of 27 pounds during pregnancy. I passed my gestational diabetes test with flying colors, and (with the help of daily walks) was significantly less miserable at 9 months than a lot of women I know. All in all it was a really smooth pregnancy.

On June 22 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and measuring 21 1/4 inches. Isn't he cute? :)

Then came the hard part: losing all that pregnancy weight.

Losing weight after pregnancy can be really tricky, especially if you are breastfeeding. Your body needs extra calories to heal itself and to produce milk, so traditional calorie-restricting diets are out. Luckily, Beyond Diet doesn't work that way! I found that continuing to follow the program while listening to my body's hunger cues made the journey back to my pre-baby body much easier. Pregnancy Progression

It's been 4 months since my son was born. I reached my pre-pregnancy weight at about 3 months, and my son is thriving at 14 lbs 12 oz and 26 1/2 inches. I've still got a ways to go to reach my fitness goals (adjusting to being a mom hasn't left me much time to work out), but I fit into all my old clothes, which is a pretty great feeling!
