Mmm...Apple Butter!

Apple butter is one of my all time favorite snacks. And the best part about it (in my mind, anyway) is that it's so easy to make! I want to show you, step by step, how to make this delicious snack.

Apple Butter

Here’s what you will need:

  • 12 apples (I prefer Red Delicious)
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 3 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
Diced Apples

Start by peeling, coring and dicing the apples. (This step might get a little messy.)

When you’re finished dicing the apples, toss them all into a crock pot. Sprinkle the spices and drizzle the honey on top.

Cook on low for 6 hours. When 6 hours is up, mash the apples with a potato masher or a fork. Cook for two more hours.

When the apple butter is finished in the slow cooker, pulse a couple of times in a food processor. Let it cool completely before storing in your refrigerator.

Apple Butter on Bread

Maybe I was a little quick to tell you the "best part" of apple butter earlier. The BEST part is that there are so many ways to enjoy it!

  • Add it to your oatmeal.
  • Spread it on a pancake, waffle, or piece of SWG bread.
  • Dip sweet potato fries in it.
  • Use it as a sauce or glaze on chicken or pork.
  • Mix it up with plain yogurt, Greek yogurt, or cottage cheese.

And the list goes on!
